Straight Outta Compton Theaters Adding More Security

Straight Outta Compton is a movie about NWA an African American iconic Hiphop group and movies are asking for extra security.

With guidance from veteran manager Jerry Heller, band members Ice Cube (O’Shea Jackson Jr.), Dr. Dre (Corey Hawkins), Eazy-E, DJ Yella and MC Ren. NWA is one of hip-hop’s most legendary groups, and there was a lot of preparation and time taken to make this into a possible blockbuster 2015 movie. Unlike any other movie extra security is being offered. This is going to probably raise some eyebrows as to why this movie has been singled out.
There is been a lot of Q&A’s with the cast, prescreening and merchandise given away in preparation for this movie. The marketing Straight Outta Compton has been going on for couple years and the anticipation for this movie has reached its peak.

According to Deadline some theaters are considering adding extra security in preparation for the screening of Straight Outta Compton. According to the Deadline Report at Universal Studios it is rumored that they are offering some type of financial support for extra security for the Straight Outta Compton movie. Universal Studios has not released what type of security that that would entail or where which theaters will receive the extra security support. Universal stated that they are “proud of our association. We believe Straight Outta Compton vividly portrays the rise of five talented young men into one of the most influential acts in modern music history”. Please note that this film has been seen in hundreds of screenings, all of which have occurred without incident. The studio has not solicited enhanced security for theaters that will be showing the films this weekend but has partnered with those that requested support in their locations.

A course there have been shootings previously in other theaters, but it is kind of odd for a movie to be singled out. Not jump to any conclusions. This could be the new standard for all movies in the future. In the wake of protecting movie goers maybe this will be a great thing and all movies will be provided with extra security. Regardless of that straight Straight Outta Compton should be a great movie and a good history lesson to where and how hip-hop has evolved over the last 20 or so years.
