Always Be Yourself and Let Love Find You

I’m not exactly sure what direction this blog is going to go this evening. I have some things that I really want to say, but I’m not sure if this is going to be part one of two or just the whole thing. As usual, I am just going to let my mind and my fingers take me where I need to go.

If you are unaware, Thursday is TV time for me. That night when the social networking sites are only used to communicate with other people who are watching the show(s). Yes, it’s that serious for me, but that is the one night out of the week when I can truly wind down and enjoy my night. However, since many networks are on mid-season break, the particular show that I was watching was on repeat. I wasn’t going to watch it, but when I realized which episode it was, I got comfy and watched. There was something really profound that was said during the episode and I was too caught up in another blog the night that it aired to really pay attention to it, but Thursday, I was all ears.

It was a Valentine’s episode and the guy said something to the effect of, “I go around today delivering things to people to help them forget how bad they are treated the other days of the year”. That has been my protest against Vday for years, but to actually hear it come out on TV the way that it did, it really got my attention.

Ladies and gentlemen, take a step back from your situation and look into your relationship as if you are a stranger. If 2 + 2 is not adding up to be 4, then there might be a problem. Vday, birthdays, and other holidays should not be used as make up days for the other days that you spend treating your significant other like dirt. Those days, the love that you have for that person should only be enhanced, not actually the only day that love is shown. Seriously, you are much for valuable than you know!

Stop settling for less and go out and wait on the right person to come to you. We spend so much time sulking about not having anyone that we will go to great lengths to get someone, just to have that someone treat us like we are no one. Love isn’t an acquired taste. It’s either there or it’s not – and it’s best to let go once it has faded.

People, just be yourself and let love find you. You are deserving of that great person that is going to give you the world, share your dreams, and bring out the very best in you. I hope that type of love comes my way one day. All the other types of love can stay away – I’ve had enough of them already.
