DeMarcus Cousins got traded from the Sacramento Kings to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for a first and second round NBA draft pick along with three Pelican players.
The three players there are leaving in exchange for DeMarcus Cousins are Tyreke Evans, Buddy Hield, and Langston Galloway. The New Orleans Pelicans also get Omri Casspi. The Sacramento Kings general manager Vlade Divac said “time for a change” he also stated ““Winning begins with culture and character matters. With the upcoming draft class set to be one of the strongest in a decade, this trade will allow us to build the depth needed for a talented and developing roster moving forward,”
Anthony Davis from the New Orleans pelicans stated that Demarcus Cousins “is a great player, dominant in this league and of course with all the numbers that he puts up, but he hasn’t heard anything else. I’m going to let the management do what they do and when the time is right they will come talk to me about it, but of course Demarcus is an elite player in the league”.
Anthony Davis came all of an historic All-Star MVP night racking up 52 points breaking the NBA All-Star record for points previously held by Wilt Chamberlain. The superstar duo of Anthony Davis and Demarcus Cousins should make them serious contenders for a NBA championship run. From the looks of this trade it seems as though the Pelicans came out with the better of the deal.
The upside is Demarcus Cousins will be a force to be reckoned with but can the Pelican’s contain him, because in the past he has been known to be on un-coachable. This could be the best trade since the Golden State Warriors picked up Kevin Durant. Time will only tell if the Demarcus Cousins Trade was worth it.
